Practical Theurgy - pt 11
A Practical Guide To Offerings
My loves,
Hello again and rejoice!
I hope you have been keeping well and that you have been spending your days in contemplation of the gods, like all self-respecting Platonists ought to do.
If you haven’t, don’t sweat it.
I haven’t either.
Some days the rage is too much.
The existential angst too agonizing and whatever is usually left, is drained by my news feed.
But, from time to time, I do turn to my altar and the gods. I take the time to prepare myself ritually with a shower, followed by a bath in salted water and clean clothes—instead of the usual quick prayer as I rush out the door, or exhausted back to my bed.
And when that effort is made, I must treat the occasion for the special event that it is. And no event is special enough, without distinguished guests and the appropriate display of hospitality.
No, the gods do not visit me, personally. They do not take their stuff, get in the god-carriage and roll down from Olympus to visit my empty, yet still ridiculously messy apartment in the middle-of-nowhere California.
But when I make time for them, to acknowledge and honor their presence throughout this entire world, I make sure that I follow the protocol that has been established by those who witnessed the gods’ existence and providence before me.
I make sure that I honor them in accordance with the resonance of each one, so that I can attune to them more easily and partake in their effulgence.
The entire moment becomes an ocean of presence, of resonance and alignment that bathes my soul—whatever is left of it.
Of course, the results only last until I touch my phone again, but the few moments I spend plugged into the divine matrix are all I need to recharge my existential batteries just enough to keep going and remain successfully out of jail.
In the last article, we spoke about the act of offering to the gods; what it is, how it has traditionally been seen, what it really means to give to the ones to whom everything belongs anyway, and so on.
What we did not talk about was the how and whats. In this article —if I manage to remain focused long enough—I shall attempt to give you all a little more practical advice that you can use to build and enrich your practice.
On account of space and time restrictions, this will not be a full list of things. There WILL be a relevant book coming out (shameless plug inserted).
But by the end of this article, you should have enough to get your routine established.
So, without further ado, let’s get into it.
